Ministry and New Marriage Champions in South Africa
As we gear up for Christmas and the end of an incredible 2015, we are reflecting on the different ways God led and moved throughout our ministry this year. Our specific focus at this time is South Africa as Gary and Barbie have now returned and continue to share stories of changed lives and hearts in this wonderful country. We are incredibly grateful for the way God worked during the events that took place in South Africa and we want to share some exciting details with you.
A Woman's Legacy is the core of Barbie’s heart for these incredible women who serve as caregivers to “at risk” and orphaned children, teaching them the powerful life-changing principles from the 6 keys based upon a relationship of love from Christ. To help instill this message, she gifts each woman with a hand-beaded necklace with hearts depicting each principle along with a beautiful cross. These beautiful necklaces serve as a tool to help women encourage one another during the most difficult times and also teach the children in their care the message of Jesus and the 6 Keys to Godly Relationships. This year Barbie had the opportunity to speak into and train over 275 Zulu women with A Woman’s Legacy necklaces. About 80 of the women received the inaugural "Ambassador" necklace to rise up as leaders within their peer group. This year we commissioned talented composer and writer Ken Medama to write music for continued learning for these amazing caregivers. “I Am Beloved” with music and lyrics was born. For three years Barbie had written weekly text messages in English, further teaching these concepts which are translated into Zulu, then dispersed. Woman after woman shared with her how this continuous teaching reinforced the need to forgive, serve, trust God, keep boundaries, have joy and be committed to God. True healing was happening as the Word of God was proclaimed in each text.
Another significant part of Gary and Barb’s ministry in South Africa is their events for married couples. This year they had the honor of doing many Date Nights on their brand new message Kiss and Make Up! in which hundreds of couples were ministered to each night. They saw hope restored, joy shared and excitement stirred as the message of Godly marriage went out to these couples—both old friends from years past and new friends who attended for the very first time. Gary also had the opportunity to conduct Marriage Champion training to excited South African Marriage Champion couples from this country. These Marriage Champions are trained to use our video and small group curriculum, bringing them to their churches and communities to be shared and multiplied. We are thrilled to gain so many new Marriage Champions from South Africa who are excited about bringing the hope of biblical marriage into their sphere of influence.
We praise God for the impact Gary and Barbie saw in South Africa this year—through A Woman’s Legacy and all of the precious women who are the hands and feet of Christ caring for children; through the many couples learning and growing from what they hear at the Date Night events; and through the couples who decide to become Marriage Champions so they can carry on the message of Godly marriage in their country.
For a tangible way you can help our ministry in South Africa, check out our new Thandie necklace available on our website. All proceeds of this necklace go toward the A Woman’s Legacy ministry—the training and encouragement of caregivers to “at risk” and orphaned children, and to these children themselves. The Thandie necklace would make a beautiful Christmas gift this year!
We thank each of our Marriage Champions for the work you do and the impact you have in the lives of married couples around you! Many blessings for a Merry Christmas.
